The method
How it works
- 01The amount grows with yearly compounding: amount × (1 + return) ^ years.
- 02Estimated returns are the final value minus the amount invested.
- 03Actual returns vary; the calculator uses one steady rate to illustrate.
Questions
Asked often
Lumpsum or SIP: which is better?
Neither is better in every case. A lumpsum puts all the money to work at once; a SIP spreads it over time, so you buy at different market levels.
What is an STP?
A Systematic Transfer Plan parks a lumpsum in a debt or liquid fund and moves a fixed amount into an equity fund every month: a middle path between investing all at once and a SIP.
Is the return in the calculator guaranteed?
No. Mutual fund returns are market-linked and can be negative over short periods. The figure only illustrates the rate you choose.
