Goal Planner

Add each goal with what it costs today and when you need it. The planner raises each cost for inflation, counts what you have already saved, and shows the monthly SIP, step-up SIP or one-time investment that covers them all.

Assumed return is the same value as Return before retirement in the Retirement tab: change either one and both update, so the retirement SIP matches in both places.

The method

How it works

  1. 01Each goal’s cost is raised by inflation to the year it falls due: cost today × (1 + inflation) ^ years.
  2. 02Money already saved for a goal is assumed to grow at the expected return until then.
  3. 03A SIP (or lumpsum) covers the gap. Each goal’s SIP stops once that goal is reached, and the plan is the sum of its goals.

Questions

Asked often

Why plan goals together rather than one at a time?

One plan shows what all your goals need from your monthly budget at once, so you can see whether it is affordable and which goal to move if it is not.

What inflation should I assume?

Many planners use around 6% for general expenses, and more for education and healthcare, which have tended to rise faster. Try a few values to see how much the plan changes.

Should I choose a step-up SIP or a flat SIP?

A step-up SIP starts lower and rises every year, which suits a growing income. A flat SIP puts more money to work early. The planner shows both so you can compare.
